A major accident occurred at an under-construction multi-story building in Nangalpota, Rajarhat, where two workers were buried under collapsed soil during excavation for a well. The incident took place around 1 PM on Thursday when the ground suddenly gave way. Rescue teams, including personnel from Rajarhat Police Station and the fire brigade, were immediately deployed. Fellow workers also assisted in the operation. One laborer, identified as Shyam Mandal, was rescued and taken to a local hospital, while efforts are ongoing to locate the second worker, Abhijit Mandal.
The collapse triggered panic among workers at the site, and the missing laborer’s family members were seen in distress. Officials are using specialized equipment to remove debris and search for the trapped worker. Initial reports suggest that excavation had been underway since the morning before the soil caved in.
